We invite scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to submit contributions to:
Intangible Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis: Transformations, Risks, and Governance
📅 17–18 September 2026
📍 Collegium Polonicum, Frankfurt (Oder), Germany | Hybrid
This conference addresses the growing impact of crises—climate change, conflict, migration, and political instability—on intangible cultural heritage and its critical relationship with tangible heritage.
A dedicated focus will be placed on Intangible Religious Heritage, including governance challenges at the intersection of law, space, and evolving social contexts. Participants will also have the opportunity to join a research visit to Neuzelle Abbey.
We welcome abstracts (max. 150 words) on topics including:
- Transformation and transmission of intangible heritage
- Policy, legal, and governance frameworks
- Risks such as politicisation, commodification, and fragmentation
- Cross-cutting issues: digitalisation, climate change, migration
